Unlike most music teachers, I am a specialist in education as well as music. I received my bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, and (of course) Music from the University of Pittsburgh. I also have a master’s degree and completed Ph.D. coursework in Art History from Pitt.
I have taught students in every age group, including adults. I am certified in Kindermusik and have training in Suzuki Piano, eurhythmics, and voice. I am a certified middle school social science teacher and I have been a college professor in art history. I’m a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers, the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and the National Association for the Teaching of Singing (NATS) and I am also a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM). I am the alto section leader and a board member of the Newburyport Choral Society. I travel regularly in summer with Berkshire Choral International (BCI) and my playing can be heard in the Super Score App by TimeWarp technologies under Penny Lazarus Publications.
